A little recognition for the Flint Hills is a good thing. This week, the online version of National Geographic Traveler has provided some great recognition. The online magazine has selected Jim Richardson’s photo of the Konza Prairie Biological Station as the Photo of the Week for July 31-August 7.

The photo, which first made an appearance in the article “Splendor of the Grass” in the April, 2007 edition of National Geographic, shows golden autumn grass of the tallgrass prairie covering the curves of a row of hills. The photo was also used as a commemorative poster for the traveling exhibit of Jim’s photos.

The Web site of National Geographic Traveler also announced the July/August 2008 printed edition of the magazine will include an article, “Walk Into America,” which will feature information about the Kansas prairie. For those who would like to see the photo more often, the site also provides links to two different sizes of the photo that can be used as wallpaper on their computer’s desktop.
